Ugh… I am absolutely kicking myself.
Kick, Kick, Kick!
Back in the Fall I wrote a sketch I was really excited about called Duber. The premise was a commercial for a new doggy social sharing site. When you are down and out you just use the Duber app and a dog will come and visit you. Whether its a bad boss or relationship troubles the network of technology connected pups will be at your door in minutes to make you feel better.
I was so excited to film it. It gave me a great chance to incorporate my pup Chewie and do a dog based sketch.
Then I got the great idea to wait until the weather was nice so all the shots of dogs running around the city of Denver could be shot with green grass, flowers, trees. I had no idea someone would actually create a dog based uber experience. But that is exactly what happened. Uber is delivering puppies. I got the email today with the message “they stole your idea”. They didn’t actually steal the idea, unless there were spies at the Second City. Their idea benefits animals and helps to get the adopted, which I love. Their idea has humans in cars, not technology connected dogs.
So maybe I will still film it. I love parodies and I chuckled when I wrote it. It’s my fault for waiting. It’s my fault for not figuring out how to do it in the snow, or one of Denver’s many warm winter days. I own it.
But I can still bring this little sketch to life if I want. So maybe I will.
Here is the sketch if you want to read all about DUBER, the Doggy Uber.
