A Huge Holiday Thank You to the team at Westword for their kind words and sharing news about our online holiday show! Just over a month ago a very crazy idea got some legs… What if Urban Brain created not one, but an entire series of holiday comedy sketches and filmed them in time for the New Year.
We stared with one, then two, then more…. the more we wrote, acted, and filmed the more fun we had. What began as a simple notion of doing something fun as a treat for our family, friends, and fans quickly grew into something else entirely… an ongoing comedy channel and a group of very fun people who love comedy.
Local actors, comedians, improvisers, musicians, students from my comedy writing classes, neighbors, friends, and fans of comedy who have always wanted to be a part of a sketch show like Saturday Night Live, Second City, or Mad TV jumped on board to be a part of the fun… and many more have expressed interest in doing so in 2015.
We also got to do something important, even if we only get a few views. We decided to end each video with a video promotion for a non profit or cause, usually one that had a close personal connection to a member of the team. I know the odds that one of our videos gets enough views to make a difference. But every penny counts and who knows, maybe the message will make a small difference. I think we will have to add an “egg” to our 2015 videos in order to give folks a reason to stick around. We did it on one video “Lowest Seniority” and I think it will help.
Anyhoo… thank you to everyone who has volunteered, acted, written, gave up their morning to be an extra, liked, shared, commented, supported, laughed, or encouraged our rag tag team. This is a fast paced sketch show and we look forward to slowing down a little bit in 2015, taking what we learned from mistakes, and keep improving our content in the next year and the future.
We are having fun, that is for sure. Cheers.
